# Hear a chord progression. Make it a song.

> A free chord progression tool: pick a key and a mood, hear the four chords at once with no sign-up, then turn them into a full song by asking.

Pick a key and a mood. The tool plays four chords that fit, with a bass and soft drums, and shows their names.

Like them? Press "Make a song from this", and Shawarma writes a whole song on those chords: a melody, drums and parts that change.

## Songs made on a progression

- Four-chord pop: C G Am F, with a piano melody: [Make it yours](https://shawarma.studio/open?example=made-chords-pop)
- Jazz two-five-one: Dm7 G7 Cmaj7, swung, electric piano: [Make it yours](https://shawarma.studio/open?example=made-chords-jazz)

## Then ask for *changes*

Once your song plays, type what it needs. It changes while it plays, and you keep only what you like.

- You add a melody on top
- You play the chords on a guitar
- You slower, and in a minor key
- You add a bridge with new chords
- You make the last chord ring out

## How it works

- Pick a key and a mood: Happy, sad, dreamy or tense, in C, E or G. The chords play at once, no sign-up.
- Hear the chords: Four chords with their names and their place in the key, like I, V, vi and IV.
- Make it a song: Press "Make a song from this". The chords go into the song box, ready to become a whole song.

## Questions

**Is it free?**

Yes. The chord tool needs no sign-up, and so does your first song. Making, editing and sharing songs is free.

**What do I, V, vi and IV mean?**

They are the chords' places in the key. In C major, I is C, V is G, vi is A minor and IV is F. The same numbers work in every key.

**Can I use other chords?**

Yes. Type your own chords in the song box, like "a song on Dm F C G", and Shawarma makes a song on them.
